The Manly Warringah Australian Football Club has announced the appointment of Michael Ford as its Premier Division senior coach for the 2017 season.
Originally from Gippsland in eastern Victoria, Michael played 98 games for the Western Bulldogs and St Kilda between 1984 and 1992, and coached Oakleigh and Springvale in the VFL throughout the nineties. Most recently, he coached the Williamstown Development Team in the VFL, was Senior Assistant Coach at the Casey Scorpions and coached the Melbourne Grammar 1st XVIII for a number of years in his capacity of Sports Manager at the school. He was also the Assistant Coach of the AFLVIC, Vic Metro Senior Team in 2014.
President Ashley Parker said "We are delighted to have a coach of Michael's calibre at the Club. His long history of coaching and deep experience in player development will serve the Club well as we look to cultivate the next wave of player talent on the Northern Beaches".
Michael follows in the footsteps of Leigh Brain who stepped down from coaching at the end of the 2016 season following an outstanding record of four premierships in six years as senior coach and maintains an active involvement at the Club.
