Chairman David Roff and Phillip Freidlieb were re-elected unopposed at tonight’s Annual General Meeting, along with former Shepparton Swans Secretary Rhonda Kortum.
Current Board members Quentin Thomson, Freddo McMahon and Mick Williams were not up for re-election and will continue in their roles with Braydon Aitken stepping down due to growing study and family commitments.
Chairman David Roff welcomed Kortum to the Board as well as acknowledging Aitken’s work in his short tenure.
“As she steps out of club duties Rhonda brings with her an extensive knowledge of club operations and will be a great asset to the team” he said.
“Braydon has also had a productive two years and did a significant amount of work with the Dunkirk Avenue office in getting the property to market for lease and then spearheading the sale of the property at the direction of the clubs.”
“We wish him well as he takes on further study and spends more time with his young family.”
The League unveiled a trading loss of just over $41,000 for the year which included a special administration grant made to Clubs totalling $30,000. Finals takings were down by $20,000 and costs associated with League’s former premises were over $12,000.
The sale of the Dunkirk Avenue office returned a $32,000 profit to the League and has led to the establishment of a club facilities grants program where $10,000 per club has been allocated on a dollar matching basis for clubs to spend on their own facilities. In all $120,000 will be distributed to clubs for this program with matching funds potentially resulting in over $400,000 of facility improvements occurring across the League.
“The facilities grants program is an exciting initiative and with the extra administrative grant this season the League will have returned $150,000 to clubs over the next few years.”
“The Board is also pleased to confirm that Grant Wilson’s tenure as League Operations Manager has been extended to cover the 2017 season.”
“The League is in a very healthy financial position with net assets of over $357,000 and this year was a strong year of consolidation with some exciting and interesting times to come.”
