Morwell and TRFM Gippsland League rising star Ben Ainsworth's AFL dream is now a reality after he joined Gold Coast Suns in the 2016 National Draft.
Ainsworth, who has made 15 senior appearances for Morwell, was picked up by the Suns via pick four of last Friday night's draft in Sydney and joins fellow Gippslander Jack Leslie on the Gold Coast.
The 18-year-old follows in the footsteps of Gippsland League products Brendon Goddard, Jarryd Roughead, Dale Thomas and Scott Pendlebury in being taken in the first five picks of a national draft and was the highest pick of any Gippsland Power player to be drafted since Lachlan Hansen was taken at pick three by North Melbourne in 2006.
Congratulations Ben and all the best for a long and successful AFL career.
