AFL Victoria CEO Steven Reaper is urging clubs to consider addressing poor lighting, change room and playing facilities with financial assistance from a new round of the Country Football and Netball Program, which will close on Wednesday 7th December.
In conjunction with the Victorian Government, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria, the Country Football and Netball Program provides funding of up to $100,000 to assist country football and netball clubs, associations and umpiring organisations improve facilities in rural, regional and outer metropolitan locations.
Clubs and organisations can seek to access this funding by completing an Expression of Interest for Community Organisations form and forward it to their respective council. Only local councils are able to submit applications directly to Sport and Recreation Victoria.
Any clubs wishing to discuss a project should contact their local council who will provide further advice, which may include preparing information ahead of a future round of the program.
AFL Victoria CEO Steven Reaper said that the Country Football Netball Program was a terrific opportunity for clubs to update tired facilities.
“Funding will contribute to the development of change room facilities for players and umpires of both genders, the upgrade of football playing fields and netball facilities as well as the development and upgrading of lighting facilities” said Reaper.
AFL Victoria and/or AFL Region Commissions, in addition to being a funding partner for the full program, can provide advice on best practise design, and support applications with letters of support.
Clubs seeking guidance should make contact with their local AFL Region Commission, Local Council, or AFL Victoria’s Manager of Government Partnerships and Facilities Shayne Ward via shayne.ward@afl.com.au to discuss their project ideas.
