Brisbane Roar Youth have confirmed their squad for the Foxtel National Youth League campaign and new coach James Robinson is confident they will hit the ground running.
Young Roar commence their summer season at Corporate Travel Management on Saturday against Melbourne Victory Youth.
The confirmed squad contains plenty of familiar faces from the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues 2016 season – including Cameron Crestani, who has been awarded the captain’s armband.
Also returning for Young Roar are 2016 stand-outs Nathan Konstandopoulos, Andre Janesse, Mark Rodic Jayden Prasad, Nicholas Panetta and Dane Ingham, while Western Pride’s Joe Duckworth is the only new addition to the team.
Duckworth’s elevation to the Young Roar comes on the heels of former Pride teammate Hayden Mchenery’s move mid-year.
The most noticeable departure from the Young Roar is PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues 2016 captain Jesse Daley, who has reportedly linked up with South Melbourne.
This weekend’s season opener against Victory will mark Robinson’s first competitive game in charge of the team since taking over from interim coach John Sime.

Robinson said he intends his team to play the ‘Roar way’ throughout the Foxtel National Youth League season – with many members of the Young Roar squad regularly training with the senior set-up.
“We know our process and structures will deliver the results that we want. That's the one club, one family feel,” Robinson said.
“We play how the first team and Westfield W-League teams play which I believe is important.”
Robinson is also confident the team’s hard work in pre-season will translate into a strong performance this weekend.
“We've been making sure our structures are solidified and we're ready to go come Round 1 on Saturday,” said Robinson.
“We're competing against elite players but we believe in what we're doing here.”
With the Foxtel National Youth League season complemented by Young Roar’s PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues commitments, Robinson added that he is confident regular competition will see players forge a path to the Hyundai A-League.
“You can train for twelve months of the year if you want but nothing beats games. Games at a high intensity will bring competition and drive standards,” Robinson said.
“Healthy competition is always going to get the best out of players,” he concluded.
