Grand Final week , the one we have been looking forward to all year.
The week started with the Vote Count for the Seniors, Reserves and Under 18s and we congratulate Simon Buckley, Benjamin Pedretti and Brayden Frost on their success in their respective competitions. We also congratulate all other award winners whether they have contributed to their Club and the League, both on and off the field
Now to today’s games. In the Seniors we know Kyabram have gone through undefeated so far this season in what is a great achievement. Can they go all the way and secure the flag ? Rochester have put together very strong wins in the last two weeks after being competitive against Ky early in the first final, going down by 25 points in that one
In the Reserves the Mansfield Eagles are hoping to reverse their defeat from last years Grand Final and they and Kyabram will compete just as they did in the first week of finals
In the Under 18s Euroa take on United. The Euroa story is a great one and inspires confidence that Clubs struggling can pull together and achieve . Several years ago the Magpie thirds were struggling for numbers and it is terrific to see their hard work rewarded with a start in the big game
On behalf of the League, the best of luck to all teams
During the year we have seen a pretty competitive competition with all Clubs showing positive signs at various stages, even if not winning.
As a League we have worked closely with our Clubs on issues such as the salary cap and points system and we will continue this to make sure we maintain a strong competition. Thank you to the administration of all clubs for your support and willingness to contribute your thoughts to our operation.
From an administration point of view, under Martin Gleeson’s leadership we have seen a seamless transition following Simon Devine’s departure as Operations Manager, with Grant Wilson stepping up to the plate.
The team in the office are just that and are not afraid to chip in when work is required. Thanks to Teddy, Melissa , Bree, Michelle, Chops, Trevor, Sparra, Josie and Kailem.
The umpires have continued to provide a professional service and have very healthy numbers with some being recognized with elevation to higher levels of footy which is great for our region. They do their best in what is at times a difficult job.
Thanks also to our media partners who continue to promote our league both in and out of the region.
GOTAFE have been a very supportive major sponsor for a number of years now and we look forward to further developing the relationship moving forward. To our other sponsors a big thank you
I look forward with great anticipation to today’s games
Sit back and enjoy
