Exciting and game-changing Wolves Stadium on track and taking shape

The Wanneroo Basketball Association is excited to provide the member update that work is well underway on our state-of-the-art Basketball facility at HBF Arena, to be delivered by September 2017.

Stakeholders VenuesWest, the City of Joondalup, LandCorp, Department of Finance Building Management and Works, along with joint venture contractors EMCO Building and Jones Coulter Young Architects, are working together to deliver specially tailored facilities that will significantly enhance Basketball and our environment for all our members.

Following the award of the contract for the design and construction of new basketball (and football) facilities at HBF Arena, designs are now complete following input from all stakeholders on both aesthetic and operational aspects of the new facilities.

On 5 September, award winning commercial building company EMCO Building officially occupied the site and commenced site preparations.  As such, construction fences and signage have been erected around the precinct to ensure the safety of patrons both whilst parking and moving around the venue.

The site fencing provides stakeholders, patrons and staff a first-hand indication of the locations of the new facilities and size of the stadium and our future ‘Arena precinct’.

Wanneroo Basketball Association is working closely with VenuesWest to develop agreements to enable occupation and use of the facilities once completed. Based on positive discussions so far all parties expect early completion of and favourable agreements.

The Project Working Group, consisting of representatives from all stakeholder groups, has been meeting on a monthly basis for more than 12 months to ensure the Wolves’ facility will meet our intended purpose and to keep the project moving along so key targets are met.

Some important project milestones and updates;

• Piling for the new basketball facility - COMPLETE

• Preparatory work for the basketball building concrete footings – COMPLETE

• Laying of basketball building concrete footings and pad – COMPLETE

• Internal design briefs, including ‘Wolfpack customisation’– UNDERWAY

• Basketball stadium exterior frame work – ESTIMATED XMAS COMPLETION

 The new stadium - our new home - will emerge quickly and visibly. I encourage all members to share in the enthusiasm and interest of this very exciting relocation, and where the opportunity can permit, to actively visit HBF Arena for a look at the site, the scale and the justified sensation surrounding our future facility.

A photo gallery has been created on our Association website, and this will be added to as the project progresses and the build takes continual shape.
