In an enthralling match leading up to the main game Glenmore secured the Premiership in Reserve Grade following a clean sweep by Boyne Island Tannum Sands (BITS) in U/13, U15 and U/17 Grades.
Glenmore's mix of young and old brigade proved to be to good for Minor Premiers BITS when they lead at every change to take the flag. Glenmore were able to get the better of possession in the centre match ups to be able to force the ball forward to result in 2 goals in each term. Jeremy Horton was a stand out for the Bulls marking at every opportunity and kicking 4 goals for the match. At the other end Shaun Johnson was the only multiple goal scorer with 2 before a hand injury forced him from the field.
Glenmore mix of old and new was highlighted by Zac Russell's efforts around the ground to deliver to his father Greg where opportunities were created. Club Stalwarts Andrew Hodgens, Wayne Redsell and Tim Grentell kept the younger players focused with cool heads when BITS threatened a come from behind challenge in the second and third term with Grentell chipping in for 2 goals. BITS will regret missed opportunities when they managed 3 goals and 8 behinds for the periods. At the sound of the final siren it was Glenmore running out victors by an 18 point margin 8.4.52 to 4.11.34.
In the Junior grades it was all Boyne Island. U/13 was won by 8.5.53 to 1.4.10 over Glenmore. Junior League Best and Fairest, Daniel Hunt, had a day out dominating the center to deliver to a skillfull forward line. U/15 BITS Saints were never threatened in defeating Glenmore 18.16.124 to 1.1.7 and closed the season out undefeated. The Saints were too strong for Brothers in the remaining U/17 match winning 11.10.76 to 6.2.38. The final scores in this match not reflecting an indication of the game where both teams who provide players to their A Grade teams showed an expectation of the players of the future. BITS got an early lead on Brothers to hold out the determined Roos who mounted a challenge in the last term but by then the match had been secured
