NEWS: Both Geelong PS4 NPL Victoria clubs benefit from Sportsmart’s Development Awards
BOTH the Geelong based PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Victoria clubs, as well as a talented young local female referee, were the proud recipients of the recent Sportsmart Development awards in recognition of their junior teams’ achievements both on and off the field.
North Geelong Warriors and Galaxy United were amongst the PS4 NPL Victoria clubs who were once again financially rewarded by FFV major partner and official sports retailer Sportsmart, for their junior teams’ achievements on and off the field, with a total of $10,000 being distributed to all the clubs through the annual Sportsmart Development Awards.
Over the past three years, Sportsmart has contributed $30,000 to NPL junior clubs as part of these awards. This season, regional and NPLW clubs will receive vouchers as part of the federation's big focus in aiding the development of regional and women's football.
FFV wishes to congratulate the PlayStation 4 NPL clubs and recognised referees and coaches, who will receive the following:
- 1 x $150 voucher to all 32 NPL boys clubs going towards sporting equipment for their junior teams
- 1 x $250 voucher to all 8 NPLW clubs going towards sporting equipment for their junior teams
- 1 x $200 voucher for all regionally based clubs, which includes the Warriors and Galaxy.
In addition to that, local young referee Emanuella Fierro (pictured) was one of eight referees to receive a $100 voucher as part of the referee development awards.
Apart from refereeing locally, young Emanuella also played for the Galaxy United U18s and Senior team in the inaugural NPLW Victoria competition in 2016.
