NEWS: Survey seeking feedback for 2016 Men's Masters' league
GEELONG Region Football Committee (GRFC) has sent out a survey/questionnaire to all the clubs which took part in the inaugural GRFC Men’s Masters’ (Over 35s) competition this year, with the view of making next year’s competition even bigger and better.
A total of seven teams entered the 2016 league, with Lara United unfortunately forced to withdraw their team early on in the season due to the unavailability of players. Six teams completed the season which saw 77-year-old Everitt Nelson play his swansong match for Drysdale SC, while ex-Socceroo Josip Skoko pulled on the boots for Elcho Park Cardinals.
Despite leading the competition standings all year, Bell Park stumbled at the final hurdle, losing to Drysdale 3-2 in an entertaining Grand Final at Ocean Grove’s Shell Road Reserve almost a fortnight ago.
Next year, the All Whites will be aiming to go one better, while it is expected that premiers Drysdale, Elcho Park, Barwon, Barwon Heads and Corio will once again field teams in the Season #2 edition.
It is also hoped that more teams will join the fledgling league, with reports suggesting next year’s competition could involve up to 10 Masters’ teams.
In order to make the league structure better and more accessible to Veterans from around the region, the survey has been sent out to all clubs to pass on to their players.
The survey is attached below and anyone who took part in the 2016 competition is urged to fill it out and return back to the FFV Geelong Regional Administrator Tonci Prusac at tprusac@ffv.org.au by no later than the 15th of October, 2016.
