Players to Watch
Morphettville Park:
As far as game changers go you can’t go past soon-to-be Crow Courtney Cramey on Grand Final day. With an ability to play in tight or sit off the packs as the exit player, she will present a headache as far as match ups are concerned. Should Westies manage to apply enough pressure around stoppages to curb her influence, the Roos coach has the option of chucking Cramey forward. Whilst dangerous around the ground, her humble beginnings were as a flair-filled forward and she is still very capable of causing havoc up around the goals.
West Adelaide:
Rebekah McMahon missed last week’s Prelim for medical reasons but don’t expect that to slow her down come Grand Final week. McMahon is an integral part of Westies defence and will need to create plenty of drive off the half back if Westies are to be any chance. She is hard at the ball and has an uncanny ability to read the play. One not to be intimidated by the Roos big name players, expect her to come out firing for the big one.
The Match
The Bloods have started to put together some good footy recently under Coach Copeland and have reminded the competition why they have had such a long string of success. They have been able to adapt their game-style to suit their opponents and have stepped up their physical side. That said, the Roos have been the dominant team of the competition all season and the safe money says Sunday will be no different. The Roos are a well drilled unit who have trust in the way they play- if things don’t go their way early don’t expect them to reinvent the wheel, rather they will stay their course and grind down any resistance until they break through. The problem isn’t nutting out what they do or how they do it- the problem is stopping it. The gutsy Bloods will put up a fight but the Roos will bounce home with another SAWFL Division 1 Premiership Cup in tow.
A special mention must go to two of the Bloods superstars and stalwarts Cassie “Doingy” Hartley and Sarah “Maz” Masiero who both play match 250 on Sunday. Tara McDermitt also notches up the big 150 today.
