KEY MATCH UPS
Nicholas Maxwell V Sam Dearnaley– If there was a match up alone to watch it would be these two. When you have the joint winners of the Peltz medal for the best and fairest player in the competition you know it is going to be an intriguing battle. Both boys are super skilled and love the contested ball. The fans want to see these players match up alongside each other from the start and go to battle. We could see a Fyfe- Dangerfield battle from these players all day. Both love to use the ball and dictate their team’s fortunes around the field. Dearnaley spends most of the day on ball but will need to push forward to kick goals for his team. Maxwell already knows how to play well on the big stage as he was the Webb medallist for best on ground in last year’s decider. Both these boys can run and carry the ball for their respective teams. They have been instrumental in their teams run to the Grand-Final. Whoever can get on top in this match up could get their team over the line.
Patrick Aleer V Harrison Copland– The battle of the key midfielders will be important. These two players have been exceptional all year for their respective teams. Copland was runner up in the best and fairest while Aleer polled very well as well. They are both clean with ball in hand and love to get out and run. Whichever player can gain the most meters could be a deciding factor in this game. Look for them to push forward and kick goals. Aleer kicked 24 goals while Copland kicked 19 for the year. These two players will be looking to have a big day if they are to get the victory for their teams on Grand-Final day.
Zimra Hussan V Riley Fleming– They will not play on each other but they could be the x-factor that wins the game for their team. Fleming was the leading goal kicker for the year while Hussan runs through the midfield but pushes forward to kick big goals. In their last match up Fleming was kept goalless and he will need to be closely watched by the Cougars defensive unit. He knows where the big sticks are and if he can kick 3 goals he could turn the match to Coolaroo/ Warwick favour. Hussan is your in and under midfielder who loves to run. She will stop players in their tracks with her tackling ability and abstract the ball from tight stoppages. Look to these players to get stuck in and kick the big goal to lift their team to victory. The Cougars and the Coolaroo/ Warwick coaching staff will need to keep an eye on these two players respectively because they can win the game off their own boot.
This game will go down to wire and you will not want to miss it.
