Sandringham advanced to a semi final against Williamstown and eliminated Port Melbourne from the Peter Jackson VFL Legendairy Finals Series with a 45-point victory over the Borough today.
The Zebras weathered plenty of momentum swings in the elimination final to continually keep Port Melbourne at bay and power home to break a three-game losing streak.
After yesterday’s qualifying-final wins to the Casey Scorpions and Collingwood against Footscray and Williamstown respectively, and Essendon’s elimination-final triumph over Geelong, next week’s VFL Semi Final fixtures are:
- Williamstown vs Sandringham – Saturday September 10, 11.40am, North Port Oval
- Footscray vs Essendon – Sunday September 11, 2.40pm, North Port Oval

Telling facts: Sandringham put Port Melbourne to the sword with a final-term onslaught at North Port Oval. The Borough moved to within 11 points of the Zebras in time-on of the third quarter, but conceded nine of the next 10 goals to be eliminated from the premiership race. Sandringham out-pressured Port from the get-go, while the surprise move of Tom Lee forward paid dividends as the St Kilda-listed player bagged three goals in the first half and five for the match. Cameron Shenton also continued his purple patch of form with four majors.
