Defib Shop Division 2
Semi Final 2
Mt Lofty v Mt Barker
4pm Sat 3rd September, Arkaba Oval- Heathfield
Last time they met:
Mount Lofty 5.3-33 Def Mount Barker 1.6-12
Players to Watch
Mount Lofty:
Ellen Maple has been an absolute revelation this year. The last time these two met she booted a goal but did not feature in the best players. If she can stamp the game with her brand of hard football it will be near on impossible to keep her away from the ball.
Mount Barker:
Cherie Bamford was second best afield last week in the clubs first final and booted one goal. With Barkers strong defence and ability to shut the game down she will be integral in ensuring the Roos break through, either by teeing up some classy transition football or going it alone.
The Match
Barker surprised with a strong win over the Roos last week and will not be daunted by the task of taking on the minor premiers. With Loftys scoring power and Barkers ability to shut teams down this could be a real arm wrestle. Lofty go in as the favourites but I wouldn’t be hedging all your best on a win the favourites. As is true in all rivalries, this match could go either way and should be the match of the round. If you want to check out a match with some real atmosphere get yourself out to Arkaba Oval!
Semi Final 1
Morphettville v Adelaide Uni
1pm Sun 4th September, Kellett Reserve
Last time they met:
Morphettville Park 6.12-48 Def Adelaide University 2.1-13
Players to Watch
Morphettville:
Samantha Clarke was everywhere the last time these two met. Adelaide Uni were up and about early and Clarke stood tall and won the ball countless times to stop Uni’s forward flow. If Clarke can perform similarly this time, Uni can’t afford to let her roam.
Adelaide Uni:
Gabrielle Mills has stepped up over the last few weeks. She is a strong forward who knows when to go and how to move. With Uni missing some fire power up forward due to injury she can easily fill the void and damage the Roos on the scoreboard if sets her mind to it.
The Match
With Uni knocking off Christies by 40 points last week and the Roos coming off two losses in a row this is a hard one to call. Adelaide Uni were up and about early the last time they met but the Roos certainly turned up the heat in the second half and ran away with the match. If Uni can keep the pace this should be a real cracker of a game with a genuine midfield arm wrestle ensuring the scores stay tight until the final qtr.
