Shepparton is one of the success stories of 2016.
After spending 11 years in the finals wilderness the Bears confirmed themselves for the September action by defeating Seymour at Kings Park.
And in doing so, set up a re-match with the struggling Lions.
The Lions have lost four on the bounce and coach, Brent Colbert will be desperate to get Jason Cole back into the team.
Seymour last tasted victory on July 23 and that can’t be good going into a cut-throat final against the team that beat you last week and one of the form teams of the second half of the season.
The Bears have won seven of the last nine matches, including wins at Euroa, Mansfield, against the reigning premier, the Swans and at Seymour.
They only lost to Rochester and Echuca in the second half of the season.
It will be really interesting to see how the Bears approach this game, with the vast majority of the players to play in their first senior final.
I think coach, Brad Campbell would be best to advice his troops to take the game on, relish the opportunity and not fear the Lions.
Seymour will have the experience on its side and that could prove decisive if the game gets tight in the last quarter.
