Twenty-four players from the Swisse VFL Women’s competition have been named in the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne sides for this Saturday night’s AFL Women’s All-Stars Match. Kate Withers looks at the final Exhibition Game for 2016.
Eight Darebin players made the final cut for the final Exhibition Game this Saturday, with Darcy Vescio, Katie Brennan and Lauren Arnell lining up for the Bulldogs, while Karen Paxman, Lauren Pierce, Melissa Hickey and Elise O’Dea will represent Melbourne with Daisy Pearce again selected as captain.
Seven Melbourne Uni players Ellie Blackburn, Emma Kearney, Kaitlyn Ashmore, Maddy Keryk, Nicola Stevens will represent the Western Bulldogs, while Alicia Eva and Cecilia McIntosh have been named for Melbourne.
Jaimee Lambert and Hannah Scott from the Eastern Devils have been named for Bulldogs alongside Moana Hope and Brianna Davey from St Kilda.
The winning team in the final exhibition game for 2016 will take home the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in the first ever night match at VU Whitten Oval.
Paul Groves will coach the Bulldogs and Michelle Cowan will coach Melbourne, and the game will be broadcast live on the Seven Network around the country.
The game will be shown live on Channel 7 from 7:10pm Saturday night.
