Roos Leap Into Finals
Morphettville Park have finished the minor round with an impressive 85-point win over Angle Vale at the Angle Vale Sports and Community Centre on Saturday night.
Angle Vale were first to attack, but Morphettville Park’s defensive pressure was too strong, taking possession and scoring the first goal of the quarter.
Angle Vale fought hard against the top team, with a number of centre clearances and a strong attacking pressure, however, there was little the team could do against Morphettville Park’s experience and effective team structures.
Morphettville Park dominated play with their signature defensive wall and strong attacking systems, leading to many scoring opportunities.
It was only in the second term that the Hooters effectively broke through the defensive zone, with Sarah Ellis scoring the team’s only goal for the game.
Angle Vale continued to battle hard against the Roos, but failed to optimise on scoring opportunities as the game progressed.
Margaret Varcoe competed strongly for Angle Vale and held up numerous attacks by Morphettville Park.
Morphettville Park’s Courtney Cramey played strongly up forward, while fellow Roo Leah Cutting was also a stand out with her ruckwork.
Despite an impressive display of determination by Angle Vale, the team has finished the season sixth on the ladder, and have not qualified for finals.
Morphettville Park will now have a week off as they finished top of the ladder in the minor round, set to play either Adelaide University or West Adelaide in the semi-final.
