PS4 NPL Queensland Finals Details
Football Queensland has confirmed fixture details for the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Finals and the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Grand Final.
The final composition for the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Finals were determined during the final round of the regular season - Brisbane Strikers, Gold Coast City, FNQ Heat and Redlands United advancing to the elimination
Four Queensland cities will be represented in this year’s PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Finals – Brisbane, Gold Coast, Redland City and Cairns.
2016 marks the fourth year Brisbane Strikers have advanced to the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Finals, and a second appearance in four years for Gold Coast City, Redlands United and FNQ Heat.
Perry Park in Brisbane will host the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Grand Final on Saturday, September 3, with kick-off scheduled for 6:00PM.
This will be the first time the iconic venue – known as the spiritual home of Queensland football - has hosted the competition’s end of season showpiece.
The Brisbane venue will also host the first Semi-Final in the knock-out series featuring PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Premiers Brisbane Strikers and fourth-placed finishers Redlands United on Sunday, August 28, at 6:00PM.
The fixture is a rematch of last year’s Semi-Final that saw Strikers advance to the Grand Final in extra time.
Barlow Park in Cairns will host the second Semi-Final between the third-placed FNQ Heat and second-placed Gold Coast City on Saturday, August 27, at 6:30PM.
The match marks the return of both clubs to the Finals for the first time since 2014, which saw Gold Coast City (then known as Palm Beach SC) ultimately win the Grand Final.
The winners of this weekend’s two Semi-Finals will meet in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Grand Final.
The winner of the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Grand Final will be crowned PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Champions.
Under competition rules published prior to the 2016 season, all venues within the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Finals Series are allocated at the discretion of Football Queensland.
A recent venue inspection concluded that Gold Coast City’s home ground of Duncan McKenna Field did not meet the standard required to host matches in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland 2016 Finals.
It was determined that in this eventuality that, where possible, hosting rights would be transferred to the other competing club to ensure the largest number of fans are able to attend the match.
