Lachlan Thompson is pinching himself as he and his young team-mates embark on the Goulburn Valley Football League finals next month.
The 19-year-old knows what it takes to be successful having been part of the club’s two under 18 premierships.
He says his team will get a real opportunity to show their ware ahead of the finals when they take on Kyabram today.
The apprentice builder says it would provide the reigning premier with a huge boost if they can inflict defeat on Kyabram.
“Kyabram is the team to beat and it would be great to get a win at home as it would be good for our confidence going into the finals.”
“We have got five boys on the way back so that would be really helpful for our chances. We’ve have been in some good form of late and we are really starting to come together as a team. There’s been some good chemistry and we are building towards the finals.
“I think it is going to be a great experience for me to be part of the team for the finals.”
Thompson made his debut in round one against Rochester and he hasn’t looked back since rotating from defence in the first couple of months to now playing down forward.
“I think playing down back has been the best thing from my footy,” he said.
“It has really helped develop my game.”
