Downlands College has added another AFL milestone to its ever increasing rap sheet with Middle School Leader Dan Fraser taking out the 2016 SECONDARY SCHOOL AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR award.
Dan was one of many representatives at the State Award Function held at the Gabba Saturday. This caps off a remarkable 12 months for Downlands who recently won the Darling Downs U14 Queensland Schools Cup boys division as well as the U17 Youth Girls Cup with South Toowoomba AFC.
Add to this the drafting of former student Josh Smith to Collingwood late last year and one would argue that the AFL content within this Rugby dominated school is certainly on the rise.
Other Darling Downs regional Ambassador winners include Concordia’s Andrew Wickes (Primary schools) and Jana Anderson for her contribution toward the growth of the female game.
Dan will now be flown to Melbourne to attend the first week of the AFL finals series as a result of his State Ambassador Award.
