TALLYGAROOPNA v LANCASTER
This is the perfect match-up heading to what will be high impact and intensity games in the finals.
Both coaches will be thrilled by the strategic placement of this match, especially the Wombats as it gives the girls a real chance to test themselves against one of the premiership aspirants.
Jody Rennie and her Wombat girls have bounced back during the last fortnight and a string of losses during the back end of the home and away season.
The Redlegs’ have been particularly ruthless of late and Julie Telford’s team has been able to gain some confidence heading into the finals after accounting for Nagambie late in the season.
The intrigue around this contest is hard will the teams go, giving the likelihood the teams will face off in the first week of the finals.
The only way they will avoid each other is if Tallygaroopna loses and Stanhope wins.
Tip: Tallygaroopna.
AVENEL v NAGAMBIE
With a confirmed second semi-final showdown confirmed between these arch rivals it will be very interesting to see how Kath Hard and Abby Misti approach today’s contest, which is affectively a dead rubber.
But don’t tell that to these girls, with top spot and bragging rights up for grabs.
Avenel will be eager to do a number on the reigning premier who put some doubt in the Lakers’ girls minds ahead of their mouth-watering match up in week two of the finals.
They also know a victory will hand them the minor premiership.
I have no doubt that this contest will be spirited and one of real benefit as they prepare to keep the other premiership aspirants at bay.
Tip: Avenel.
STANHOPE v GIRGARRE
Stanhope will be keen to finish with a win, knowing a slip up from Tallygaroopna will put them into third place.
Girgarre has improved this season and despite some recent losses, it will be keen to take the match up to its neighbour.
Stanhope coach Kerrie Gray will be reminding her players to ensure they are switched and play the game as if it was a final, knowing they confront a tough challenge in each of the finals.
Tip: Stanhope.
OTHER
In the remaining three matches, Merrigum will round out its season with a win against Longwood, Violet Town will confirm its fifth place on the ladder with victory against Ardmona and Murchison should be able to cap off its improvement with a win against Undera.
Tips: Murchison, Violet Town and Merrigum.
