Mansfield FNC will open their doors with free entry for all females to Mansfield Recreation Reserve as part of their support for the GOTAFE Goulburn Valley FL’s White Ribbon round continuing this weekend.
The Mansfield v Shepparton clash is the feature match for the round which is supporting White Ribbon Australia in its campaign against domestic violence in our community.
A function will be held in the social rooms from 1pm with White Ribbon Ambassador Sergeant Thelma Bull addressing invited guests about the issue and the impact violence against women has in our communities.GOTAFE GVFL Chairman David Roff will also discuss the League’s support for White Ribbon round and the important role football netball clubs play as central hubs and role models in their community.
The pre game function will also feature the launch of an AFL Goulburn Murray initiative with footballers from across the region featuring in a video and TV commercials speaking out against domestic violence and identifying that it is now time for men to take a stand. The video will be distributed to all clubs in the region as a community based statement.
As a public statement prior to the start of the senior football game Sergeant Bull will also lead the reserves and senior footballers, A Grade netballers and spectators at the game in taking the White Ribbon Oath.

To ensure the message is spread across the League all footballers and netballers in all games in all grades will wear white arm bands and club officials will be provided with white ribbons or wristbands to be worn in support.
