Cade Mueller is one very talented sportsman and on the weekend he began what is hopefully the first step towards a successful career when he debut for the Kyabram Football Club.
The 17-year-old will no doubt remember the game as the Bombers had a comfortable win over Mooroopna.
Despite the Cats’ struggles he admitted to feeling nervous before the game.
“Once I was on the field I felt okay,” he said.
Mueller says he feels privileged to have been given the opportunity to be part of a team chasing a slice of history in 2016.
“I wasn’t really expecting to play this year and Paulo just told me to play my natural game,” he said.
“It was nice to see the faith he has showed in me.”
In the future, Mueller admits that he is likely to return to the under 18s when some of the club’s star players come back into the fold over the next month.
“I’m just keen to play my role and help which-ever team I play with to success,” he said.
In the short term his focus is on football, but he knows one day he may have to make a choice between footy and cricket, having represented Vic Country during the summer.
“I love both, so it is a bit hard to say which way I would go, but I’ll worry about that when I have to cross that road,” he said.
“I like how you can do both and not be constantly focused on the one sport.”
