AFL Sydney is pleased to announce that the 2016 Round 15 Rising Star is Jake Bartholomaeus from the UNSW Eastern Suburbs Bulldogs.
Jake is another young pup to graduate from the Maroubra Saints kennel bringing much needed finals experience with him.
Winning 5 junior aged premierships at Maroubra before joining UNSW/ES U19’s and making the 2015 Grand Final, albeit losing as an underage player.
Having benefitted from playing several NEAFL games with the Swans, as well as 7 Premier Division matches the last 4 in succession has meant Jake has developed into a classy midfielder being nominated several times in the best players for UNSW/ES.
Coach Stephen Dunkley has been impressed with Jake’s improvement throughout the year where his clean ball handling and penetrating kicking has regularly given our forwards the first use of the football in attack.
As Jake’s fitness and body development improves he will further continue to be an integral part of the Bulldogs Premier Division side in the future.
In years to come it is hoped Jake will form an integral part of a core group of young and successful players over the next decade or more with the Dogs, provided he is not selected to play at a higher level.
Congrats Jake!
