The Gap FC Women have sewn up a second straight PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Women’s Premiership after downing Eastern Suburbs FC Women 3-0 at Walton Bridge Reserve.
The title is Gators third in PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Women's competition, after winning the Premiership-Championship double in the competition's inaugural season in 2015.
Gators surged to a two goal margin at half-time after Greta Bodey’s opener – her nineteenth of the campaign – was complemented shortly after by Charlotte Bohl.
Ruth Blackburn then sealed the win with a quarter hour remaining to end Easts hopes of reeling in the unbeaten league leaders in the final rounds of the season.
The win not only extends Gators winning run to 17 games this season, but also sees them become the first team to breach Easts defence since early May.
The result leaves Easts in danger of losing their hold on second place on the table, with third placed Souths and fourth placed Olympic able to move ahead with wins in their respective fixtures on Sunday.
Key Moments
18’ – CHANCE FOR EASTS - Harkana Dixon dribbles into the box and looks to sneak home the finish to the far post but it’s pushed away by Gators goalkeeper Noran Abaza

32’ – GOAL FOR GATORS – Mavrick is lured out of her box by a Gators through ball, however Charlotte Bohl is first to arrive. Her first shot is saved by Mavrick but Bohl pounces on the second chance to double the advantage

83’ – CHANCE FOR EASTS – Harris lines up a free-kick from the midfield but directs it safely into the hands of Abaza
90’ – CHANCE FOR GATORS – Catherine O’Neill looks to ice the win from a free-kick but the ball falls just outside the far post
What They Said
“Our first goal is always to win the league and obviously we have done that now. We have a secondary goal now which is trying to win the league without dropping a point. It’s something we’ve never done at this club, so it’s something the girls are really switched on to. It keeps us motivated having wrapped up the league so early. We also have the addition now of preparing for the finals. The girls are fresh and we are only going to get better as the weeks go on.“ – Rob Askew, The Gap FC Women coach
“Their record of wins up until this game was only two or three different from ours and I still don’t think there’s a whole lot between the teams. There is an expectation that after having the same core group of girls together for five or six years that The Gap are winning leagues absolutely. We are only 18 months into our journey. I’m looking forward to this group of girls staying together and be challenging (next season).“ – Garrath McPherson, Eastern Suburbs FC Women coach
