The GOTAFE GVFL is searching for a new coach for the senior interleague team heading into the 2017 AFL Victoria Community Championships.
The restructured championships which in 2016 included five metro leagues, was considered a huge success even though the GOTAFE GVFL suffered a heartbreaking narrowly loss.
The seniors had a great training campaign under new coach Scott Beattie but fell short by just 4 points against the Essendon District Football League, with the development team succumbing to a bigger bodied EDFL by 60 points.
After a post campaign discussion between the board and senior coach Scott Beattie and his subsequent discussion with family he has advised the League that he is unable to commit for season 2017.
Chairman David Roff was appreciative of Scott’s efforts throughout his tenure.
"Scott was appointed at the end of 2015 and went to work straight away with his coaching staff to look at putting together a strong list" he said.
"The feedback from the playing group has been positive around the Interleague program and that’s a testament to Scott and his team of volunteers."
Scott Beattie was thankful for the opportunity afforded to him.
"The chance to coach an elite group of athletes in such a high pressure environment is one that I will always be thankful for" he said.
"The learning experiences I will take from this will no doubt help my coaching career moving forward."
The GOTAFE GVFL is now looking for a new Senior Interleague coach for the 2017 campaign which Roff is excited about already.
"The game at this point in time is against the old enemy Ovens & Murray and we are looking to confirm this ASAP with AFL Victoria" he said.
"We will put together a selection panel to ensure we have the right coach in place to continue our climb back up the rankings where we belong."
