The Echuca Football Club was formed in 1876. Echuca’s first game was against Rochester, with the hard fought tussle finishing in a draw. 140 years later, a strong rivalry still exists between the two clubs.
July 16th will see the rivalry re-ignited as Echuca takes on Rochester at Victoria Park Echuca. Rochester is sitting comfortably in second position on the ladder, while Echuca is determined to cement a spot in the top 6, after several seasons in the lower reaches of the ladder. After going down to Rochester in a Round 2 thriller by 5 points, Echuca will be looking to take the points, at home, on July 16th. A bumper crowd is expected, swelled by the return of former players, administrators and support staff. Full bar and catering will be available and the log fires will be blazing. A great day at the footy is assured.
The action shifts to the Echuca Wharf from 7 pm, with the 140 years Extravaganza Ball, a top band and the Heritage Jumper auction. Each jumper is emblazoned with the names of those who wore that number for Echuca during the last 50 years. It promises to be a great night to catch up with former team mates and reminisce about the good old days. Contact Peter Young for tickets on 0407 436 624
This is an event not to be missed.
