The Shepparton branch of the Blue Ribbon Foundation was established about fifteen years ago and over the years have raised thousands of dollars to contribute to the Emergency Department of GV Health.
During this time there have been a small band of local dedicated men and women who have worked tirelessly to preserve in perpetuity those selfless members of the Victorian Police Force who have lost their lives undertaking their police duty.
The current branch committee includes many serving members from the Shepparton police Station as well as GV Health and Community members. The branch meets regularly and has established many significant corporate and community partners who support the branch with their fundraising.
This enthusiastic and tireless commitment of the local branch has resulted in the Shepparton branch contributing (together with a matching grant from the Melbourne Board of the Blue Ribbon Foundation ) $250,000 to GV Health’s Emergency Department in 2007 to enable the facility to be named the Goulburn Valley Health Eyre/Tynan Emergency Department to honour the lives of the local constables who lost their lives serving Victorians.
The Hospital is also proud of the recognition given to local Numurkah police officer Ray Denman who also lost his life many years ago and honours his memory with The Ray Denman Short Stay Unit at GV Health. Ray’s daughter Gail was an in augural member of the Shepparton and continues to be actively to this day....something her Dad would be very proud of.
It is this motivation that continues to drive the commitment of everyone who is involved in the Shepparton Branch.
