STANHOPE v MURCHISON
Stanhope produced its best win of the season when it came from behind to overcome Tallygaroopna.
The Lions went above the Redlegs’ with the win and now need to back it up against Murchison today.
Coach Kerrie Gray will be reminding her players to focus on Murchison and not bask in the glory of last week’s stunning win.
Murchison has improved this year under the guidance of Phil Bryant to be sitting only four points outside the top six.
He knows if they are to take the sixth place, they need to claim a scalp, with the majority of their defeats coming against teams above them on the ladder.
Stanhope is one of the form teams of the competition and only four consistent quarters will be good enough for the visitors to take the points.
A failure to do that and the Grasshoppers could be on the end of a bad loss.
Tip: Stanhope.
MERRIGUM v UNDERA
Despite not reaching the form of last year, Merrigum remains well in contention to play finals.
The Bulldogs return to the court off the back of a loss to Nagambie.
They must rectify the things that they didn’t do well against the unbeaten Lakers to ensure the visitors don’t upset them.
The Lions haven’t been able to chalk up more than three wins, but they have gradually improved each week.
This is a game that would have looked at and pencilled in as an opportunity for a win.
To win, the Lions will need a conservative effort from every member that hits the court and then capitalise on their opportunities.
With more to play for, the Bulldogs shouldn’t need any motivation and that should be enough to get them the four points.
Tip: Merrigum.
VIOLET TOWN v TALLYGAROOPNA
This is a huge test for both teams, with Tallygaroopna aiming to bounce back from successive defeats while for Violet Town they will be keen to test their improvement against one of the best teams in the competition.
Julie Telford has had to reshuffle her line-up in recent weeks with some key absentees.
Despite playing better netball last week, Stanhope got them in the last quarter.
This is likely to give Pip O’Donoghue and the Violet Town girls plenty of confidence.
She knows that if her team can go with the all-conquering Tallygaroopna early then they will stand a chance of victory.
Kayla Woodhouse is likely to be missing again after sustaining an injury in the loss to Avenel a fortnight ago.
This means that Telford will look to Shareena Pearce to provide the experience and leadership through the mid-court area.
Tip: Tallygaroopna.
In the remaining matches, Lancaster is likely to consolidate its place in the top six, Avenel should be too strong for Rushworth and Ardmona faces a tough task against the unbeaten Nagambie.
Tips: Lancaster, Avenel and Nagambie.
