Cockburn City and Perth Glory shared the spoils after two late goals made it 1-1 at Dalmatinac Park on Saturday.

Perth Glory’s Daniel Stynes scored in the 83rd minute before Cockburn’s Ruben Tristao put his side level a mere two minutes later.

Cockburn coach Scott Miller said he had mixed feelings about his team’s performance and the final result.

“Both sides have had some players out which probably disrupted the fluency of the game,” he said.

“But after copping a goal with ten minutes to go, we’ve definitely gained a point in the end.

“We probably still gave away too many chances to our opponent, but we worked very hard and Luke Radonich did well for us today.”

Cockburn started positively when Julian Teles put Ali Gholami through on goal but his shot was unable to find its way past an outstretched Jordan Thurtell.

Glory had the opportunity to score just before the end of the first half when Gian Albano found space inside the box but his shot on a tight angle skimmed past the goal.

The away side had another chance to score in the 76th minute when Joseph Knowles made his way into the box after a run from the halfway line but his shot sailed over the bar.

Knowles was the architect just five minutes later when he whipped in a corner to Dejan Spaseski who was denied at close range by Radonich.

Stynes broke the deadlock when he found the bottom corner after receiving the ball at the edge of the box.

However, Stynes’ glory was short-lived as Tristao promptly made it 1-1 just two minutes later after a powerful shot from just outside the box.

Perth coach John Gibson admitted he was disappointed after conceding a goal straight after scoring but felt the draw was a fair result.

“The game could have gone either way; we created a lot of good opportunities and obviously they created some opportunities as well,” he said.

“Jordan saved a few shots in the first 10 minutes or so but after that I think both teams controlled the game in certain patches so I think the result is a fair reflection in the end.      

“As a group this is a strong reaction to a week of three games in seven days, so I’m pretty happy with the draw in the end.”
