Queensland’s influence in PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues Victoria has continued to grow with FNQ Heat defender Charlie Beverley securing a move to Hume City.
Beverley has been an ever-present for Heat since 2013 and has been key to the Cairns club’s rise to top spot this term.
The versatile 21-year-old was targeted by Hume after impressing the Melbourne side’s scouts during away fixtures in Brisbane earlier this year.
“I have had a great time here at the Heat and it is a very hard decision to leave at this time,” Beverley said ahead of his final training session tonight.
“It has been great to be part of such a strong, united team and leaving while we are top of the table.
“Hume City have offered me a big chance to further my career and so it is with regret but excitement that I am moving to Melbourne tomorrow.”
Beverley, who is tipped to play at fullback for his new side, will link up with former Moreton Bay United attacker Daniel Clark at Hume’s $12 million ABD Stadium.
Former Olympic FC star Jai Ingham re-launched his Hyundai A-League career at the Broadmeadows-based club, while the likes of Chris Lucas, Braedyn Crowley and Matt Thurtell have all also moved south in recent seasons.
Heat begin life without Beverley at home to second-bottom Western Pride this Saturday night.
