Over the past 18 months the league has seen much positive advancement occur through the use of technology.
At the start of season 2015 the GVFL Board invested in Ipads for all clubs to provide supporters and fan of the league the ability to follow their team and this competition in real time. All 3 grades have Live Scoring each and every week and this is great for those that are unable to get to games. The Ipads also provide the team managers the opportunity to update match results on the spot after the game so they can have a well-earned rest.
Also at the start of season 2015 the GVFL Board along with all 12 clubs decided to film all senior games. This has provided a great bit of support for coaches when educating players. Season 2016 has seen this process improve where coaches have access to their game straight after the final siren has sounded enabling them to be on the front foot with player education.
Last year’s game day footage was also used to provide a highlights package at the Morrison & Wellman Medal night. Promotionally the league is investigating how to do a weekly highlights package to continue to engage fans of this great competition.
The league has also seen the availability of the footage to be used in tribunals, and more recently this year with the development of a Match Review Panel. The MRP has alleviated the stress on volunteer tribunal members as the number of senior tribunals has decreased due to the availability to assess these incidents with this panel.
The other visual advancement which has helped raise the leagues identity this season has been the introduction of live streaming through home and away fixtures. So far this season we have seen 3 games broadcast across the region (Echuca, Kyabram and Euroa) with thousands of people tuning in online to watch these games. The ability for businesses to also promote/advertise through this medium is also becoming a great talking point in the public.
The league is continuing to look at how to engage followers and supporters and keep them abreast of all that is happening.
So after months of work the league this week launched its upgraded website (www.gvfl.com.au). The ability to provide the upgrade has come about due to the increase in traffic from season 2014 – 2015 which had the GVFL in the top 5 highest percentage increase across the country for hits, and this subsequently provided the league with a financial benefit.
The upgrade will provide a more user friendly opportunity for supporters to find out about everything within the league. Easier access to sections of the website with one click buttons. Over the next few weeks the website will be tweaked as the league adjusts to the wants and needs of its supporters. If you have any feedback at all regarding the website and what you would like to see on it please find a feedback button for you to send your thoughts to the league.
So if you get a few minutes today jump online and have a look at the new website. Let us know what you think and better yet tell all your friends to have a look too as the more clicks we have the better we can continue to progress.
