The Downs women have dominated in this space over the last 2 seasons and once again have fielded an extremely strong side consisting of representation from all 7 competing Darling Downs teams.
The reigning premiers in Toowoomba AFC as expected have the largest representation with 9 players. This is testament to their current undefeated status in 2016 where they sit atop of the ladder.
Head coach and female programs coordinator Jay Anderson is thrilled with the depth of this year’s team. “The selection of the final 23 players was an extremely difficult task due to the increasing talent that we are seeing in the female game on the Downs” Anderson said. Anderson also applauded all those that trailed over the past 3 weeks especially those travelling large distances. “The fact that we have been able to once again put together such a strong team that is a complete representation of the region is a credit to the commitment levels of our female players”.
