AFL Mackay continues to develop youth girls football with their Juniors Girls Regional Auskick Match Program.
RAMP is a free program for girls aged 8-11. It helps with their transition from Auskick to club football, which can be daunting according to AFL Queensland Mackay regional manager Jeff Neumann.
"One of our key focus points at the AFL is to provide pathways for both male and female participants," he said.
The program began at Harrup Park last Friday night, coinciding with the Under 13-16 Queensland Schoolgirls State Championships.
"To have six teams in the first year of the 11s junior girls' competition is absolutely fantastic," Neumann said.
"It really starts to build a pathway for female participants across the region."
Run by AFL Queensland, RAMP aims to help players become 'club ready', develop their confidence and build their game knowledge.
Register for the program on the AFL Mackay website or just turn up on the night.
Participants will receive a 'girls play too' football, wristband, string bag and little miss suns t-shirt.
When: Every Friday at Harrup Park
Time: 6.30-7.30pm
What to bring: Water bottle, football boots or sandshoes
