Brisbane City have confirmed the signing of goal machine Carter Glockner from Eastern Suburbs FC for the remainder of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues season.
The 21-year-old striker met his new teammates on Monday night at training and is expected to make his debut for City this weekend against SWQ Thunder.
Glockner joins City on the back of his best season in the third tier Flight Centre Premier League since joining Easts in 2013 - netting an impressive 13 goals in 13 appearances in the league.
City coach John Kosmina believes Glockner can make an impact in the national second tier for his side, who are currently sitting fourth in the league standings and eyeing their first finals appearance since 2013.
“He’s a young, lively striker and a goal scorer and I’m happy for him to be here because he wants to be here,” Kosmina said.
Glockner’s father, Steve, who is now coach of Eastern Suburbs, previously played for City in the club’s National Soccer League heyday.
“There is a bit of tradition there with his Dad playing in the NSL for City, so he will be able to contribute to the culture of tradition and history that we are trying to grow here at the club,” Kosmina explained.
