Brisbane City have announced former Golden Boot winner Antonio Murray has parted ways with the club by mutual consent.
City confirmed Murray's exit from the club via media release earlier today, formally ending the England-born striker's three and a half season association with the club.
The 31-year-old is City’s all-time leading goal scorer in PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues – netting a stunning 49 goals in 56 league appearances since 2013.
He won the competition’s inaugural Golden Boot award in 2013, helping City to that year’s PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland Grand Final.
City President David Asnicar said via the club statement, “Antonio has been a wonderful servant for Brisbane City in his time at the club and will always be welcomed back at Corporate Travel Management Stadium with open arms.”
“Antonio Murray will go down as one of the best strikers to pull on the Azzurri shirt.”
Murray was a notable omission from City’s come-from-behind 1-1 draw with Moreton Bay United on Saturday night at Wolter Park.
City coach John Kosmina is expected to consider a range of promising young attackers to fill the void left by the striker including Koh Satake, Mitchell Hore and Nathan Bird.
City are currently sitting fourth in the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland table on the back of a six game unbeaten run and will host SWQ Thunder this weekend.
