Team of the Week Round 9

Congratulations to Joel Stone of the Devonport Strikers for winning the Round 8 Mitsubishi Motors Player of the week!

GK- Graham Wright, Hobart Zebras

In a tight game that could have gone either way, Wright made a couple of huge saves in the second half to help seal all three points for side. His stop at point blank range to deny Butler from a corner was particularly impressive and proved pivotal in determining the contest.

LB- Dom Smith, Devonport

The young full back was a handful going forwards and is really establishing himself as one of the best young defenders in the league. Dealt with the threat of the lively Wadawu extremely well, especially in the second half.

CB- Adam Hedge, Clarence

Shifted to centre back, Hedge was immense in the heart of defence and he dominated the first half, ever present at the back, and making a bunch of timely interventions.  In the second half he got on the score sheet when he was on hand to turn home Bremners header, to cap a fine showing.

CB- Jackson Nugent, Kingborough

Put in a strong shift in defence as his side was forced to soak up a lot of pressure from a South Hobart side that had the majority of the possession. He leadership that he offers in organising those around him can't be overlooked and he has proved a stabilizing force at the back since coming in.

RB- Connor Schmidt, South Hobart

Deputising for Liam Quaile, Schmidt has shown the embarrassment of riches at South Hobart's disposal as he put in a terrific shift at full back. His overlapping runs were a constant threat as he combined well with Darcy Hall down the right hand side.

CM- Nick Naden, Clarence

Naden starred as Clarence chalked up their second win of the season, his raking through ball helped set up the opening goal of the game, but it was his dribbling ability that was most eye catching. Time after time he marauded through the middle and something seemed to happen every time he got on the ball.

CM- Miles Barnard, Devonport

He hasn't been a regular starter for Devonport this season, but isn't likely to cede his position after this performance. A brace for Barnard including a lovely curling effort from outside the area capped off a strong display in the heart of his sides midfield.

RW-Andrew Robb, Clarence

An absolute pest, he never stops running, chasing down balls and harassing defenders. Robb helped himself to a brace as his pace gave the Rangers defence headaches all afternoon and he was clinical when the chances fell his way.

LW- Adam McKeown, Hobart Zebras

Did what he does best against Launceston City, scoring goals. Two timely strikes helped lift his side to victory and he would have had a hat-trick if not for the off side flag. Showed fine balance

ST- Alex Leszczynski, South Hobart

Another dominant performance up top from the man leading the golden boot race, notching up his 13th goal for the season as he provided a strong target up top and wreaked havoc in the box once again.

ST- Brayden Mann, Devonport

11 goals for the season now for Mann after his brace helped fire his side home. It's not just the goal scoring that is impressing though, his work rate off the ball has been exemplary and he continues to set the tone for his side.
