2016 Score for Daniel

Football Queensland are working with the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to launch a state-wide Score for Daniel on 21-22 May, 2016.

The Score for Daniel initiative was started by Football Gold Coast in 2015 and was designed to get clubs and the football community to talk about child safety and protection.

Score for Daniel culminates in clubs nominating a monetary amount for each goal scored at their ground over 21-22 May and donating the funds to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

Last year Football Gold Coast did a fantastic job working with the Foundation to earn over $5,000. This year we are encouraging all Clubs in Queensland be involved.

How Score for Daniel works

  • For every goal scored (by the home and away team) at a club ground on Saturday 21 May and Sunday 22, the club will donate a designated amount to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.
  • Clubs can choose the amount per goal (could be 50 cents or $10) or they can donate a sum of their choosing.
    • Club can donate $100
    • 50 goals scored on the day at their ground x $1 = $50
  • Clubs can register to participate via the following link -scorefordaniel.com.au
  • Once clubs have registered, they will receive an information pack from the Morcombes about Child Safety and how to 'Recognise, React and Report' in unsafe situations.
  • FQ has provided graphics for your club to help promote Score for Daniel to your members and the community. Make an event out of the weekend and get everyone down to support the cause - http://bit.ly/1T2O5Qm
  • The above link also contains a 'How to Host a Score for Daniel Day' flyer.

The main aim of the weekend is to raise awareness for child safety and protection in all football clubs around Queensland.

Research shows that most child safety issues result from someone the child knows, so it is important that the footballing community understands and utilises the Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s initiatives and help empower our children to  ‘Recognise, React  and Report’ if they feel something is not right.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation do a great job of getting into schools and educating children, parents and teachers about child safety. The next step is to get this awareness into the wider community and with over 50,000 registered members under the age of 17 Football Queensland is keen to assist however we can.

All donations will go direct to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. Donation details are available via the club Onedrive link above.
