A dramatic injury time leveller from Hayden McHenery has earned Western Pride a valuable 1-1 away draw against Moreton Bay United at Wolter Park.

McHenery’s goal - his first in the national second tier – ends a four match losing streak in all competitions for Pride and came following extended periods of pressure from the Jets, who took the lead in the first half via veteran striker Royce Brownlie.

Ultimately, Jets were left to rue their raft of missed chances which saw several gilt-edged opportunities fail to find the target to allow Pride to steal their first ever point at Wolter Park.

The result sees Jets hopes of becoming the first PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland club to defend their Premiership in doubt with just six points from their past six outings.

Both sides remain unmoved in the league standings, with Jets holding on to sixth position and Pride entrenched in tenth.

Key Moments

2’ - CHANCE FOR JETS – Western Pride fail to clear their lines seeing the loose ball break for to Matthew Capelo, who shoots over the crossbar from edge of the penalty area

9’ - CHANCE FOR JETS – Royce Brownlie fashions space on the edge of the penalty area but his low shot scoots just wide of the target

10’ – CHANCE FOR JETS – Brownlie latches onto a loose ball in midfield and quickly plays in Jacob Fulluck, but with just the goalkeeper to beat he sends his shot wide of goal

25’ – GOAL FOR JETS – Brownlie controls a cross before battling through a pair of challenges then rounding Pride goalkeeper Duncan Short and then converting on a tight angle

33’ – CHANCE FOR PRIDE – Will McFarlane is given time and space 15 yards out from goal but his shot is directed straight at Jets goalkeeper Matthew Stein

64’ – CHANCE  FOR JETS – Scott Stewart rises promisingly and connects with an acrobatic volley but his shot flies just centimetres over the crossbar

74’ – CHANCE FOR JETS – Liam Previtera gets a sight on goal on the edge of the penalty area but can’t keep his shot down and it goes over the top

87’ – CHANCE FOR JETS – Capelo cross from the left wing is misread by Short but the gloveman’s blushes are spared as the ball bounces off the back post

88’ – CHANCE FOR JETS – A fierce shot from Brownlie draws a solid save by Short, who tips the effort over the crossbar

90+1’ – CHANCE FOR PRIDE – Hayden McHenery is teed up on the edge of the box but his rising shot is tipped wide by Stein

90+2’ – GOAL FOR PRIDE - Geoffrey Macintyre battles though from the left wing before crossing low for McHenery to slid in a dramatic late equaliser

What They Said

“If we look at the positives we created all those chances and defensively speaking played a much better game in the second half. But those ‘one-percenters’ in each box, defensively and attacking, could’ve been better. That’s all that’s lacking for us. Everything else is there but the final product. “ – Matthew Capelo, Moreton Bay United FC

“Coming off a couple of losses the boys are really lifted up and we are looking to build on this. It’s pretty good but we need to win games. That’s the main thing, so we can’t be happy with it really.“ – Jesse Rigby, Western Pride FC captain
