IT is a rivalry that has been overshadowed by the rise of Glenrowan in recent times, but this weekend’s clash between Tarrawingee and Milawa has regained blockbuster status with the two clubs both unbeaten after four rounds.
Tarrawingee is back in business following a few underwhelming seasons, and with wins over Glenrowan, Bright and Bonnie Doon, the 2016 Bulldogs have made a habit of upsetting more fancied rivals.
Co-captain Daniel Salmon said Tarrawingee’s even spread of talent had contributed to its strong start to the season.
“The thing that opposition clubs are going to struggle with is the fact we don’t really have any stars,” Salmon said.
“You can’t just isolate a couple of blokes and stop them and hope to shut us down.
“We’ve got a very even list and our bottom six is a lot better than it was last year.
“Everyone plays their role and it’s working well for us at the moment.”
The Bulldogs have suffocated their opponents with relentless pressure, restricting the usually high scoring Glenrowan, Bright and Bonnie Doon to a combined total of 133 points.
