Tallygaroopna and Nagambie clash in what is the match of the season to date in the Kyabram District Netball League today.
These were the two teams that battled it out for last year’s title, with the Lakers coming out on top under the guidance of Abbey Misti.
Julie Telford and her girls have been waiting for this day to attempt to try and turn the tables on Nagambie.
She knows that won’t take away the disappointment of that day back in September last year but a win will give them the confidence to tackle the rest of the season.
The Redlegs’ also have extra motivation to show the respect win a victory to one of its loyal servants in Bree Giles (Muston) who will chalk up her 200th A grade game today.
Giles will become a life member of the league with this milestone and she joins her cousin Rebecca Humphrey on the club honour board who chalked up her 200th game last year.
Some of her highlights include an amazing six A-grade best fairest trophies to sit alongside the 2008 premiership medal.
Giles would love nothing more than a win to help celebrate the milestone.
Make no mistake this will be a ding dong battle and with the entry fee to go and watch a very high quality game of netball.
Stanhope is well and truly back on track after a first up loss to Avenel.
The Lions have scored to nail-biting wins – two goals against Lancaster and by one goal against Violet Town.
Merrigum has made a slow start to the season, having lost twice already.
The Bulldogs don’t seem to be the team they were last year and they may find the Lions a little too hot to handle.
Just as in the football, the match-up between Lancaster and Violet Town is massive, especially for the winner.
Lancaster remains winless so far and that is something the Wombat girls wouldn’t have had to experience too much in the past decade.
It has been a strong outfit and played off in finals regularly.
Violet Town got so close to making it two wins from three matches last week only to suffer a heart-breaking loss to Stanhope.
A win would allow the Towners to square the ledger for the season.
In the other matches, Murchison will be chasing a fourth straight win when taking on Girgarre, Avenel will be out to continue its unbeaten form when hosting Longwood and Ardmona will be out to square its season when taking on Rushworth.
My tips: Ardmona, Avenel, Murchison, Lancaster, Stanhope and Nagambie.
