Rochester started the season as they started last year – with a win.
It was a good win for the Tigers as it helped eliminate some of the disappointing of otherwise below par finals campaign last year.
They were best served by Steven Stroobants, Jarod Bacon, James Gledhill and coach James Flaherty.
Echuca started its season perfectly with a win.
Andrew Briggs would have been buoyed by the grinding win against a gallant Shepparton.
The wildcard proved Nick Denahy who bagged five goals for the Murray Bombers where goals were hard to come by in a game that produced only 16 goals.
Over the past few seasons, Rochester has got a hold of the Murray Bombers, but I have no doubt this will be a close contest with plenty at stake.
