Weekend write up and photos - Cougars & Buccs

The GoodLife Homes Willetton Tigers Women won their round 4 game on Friday night, keeping their undefeated title! This round saw the girls competing for and winning the first round of the  Community Newspaper Group cup against the Cockburn Cougars 82-55. The Tigers started the game with a quick basket by Zoe Harper (20) assisted by Kate Malpass (23) and then put the pressure on and gained a turnover by forcing the shot clock. At the end of the first quarter Tigers were up 24-8 and remained in front the for whole game. Louella Tomlinson (11) hit a massive total of 32 points with 12 rebounds. Emma Gandini (7) got a total of 16 points and 2 assists, while Desiree Kelley (9) helped the team with 8 assists 4 rebounds and 6 points. Next week the women will play Mandurah Magic at 6:30pm Sat 16th, let’s get another win and keep that undefeated run!

The Men’s Friday night game was a tough game throughout. In the first quarter Damien Scott (8) assisted Nicholas Cody (9) to bring the Tigers in front at one point in the game, and then in the third quarter Damien Scott (8) shot a 3 pointer to bring the score to 61-61, and it looked like the men were in with a chance, with further excitement generated when at the start of the next quarter Kyle Armour (10) made a fast break and layup and drew the foul for an extra shot, putting the Tigers 10 points in the lead 92-82.  Unfortunately, however, COugars pulled through and defeated the Tigers 115-108.

Jay Bowie (20) had a total of 29 points 8 rebounds and 7 assists. And Damien Scotts (8) total was 28 points. For Andrew Blacks (7) 100th game he scored 2 points 4 rebounds 2 assists and 1 blocked shot!

 

On Sunday the GoodLife Homes Willetton Tigers Men had a second home game against Geraldton Buccaneers, with a comfortable win, 112-88. Damien Scott (8) had a superb game with 45 points 8 rebounds and 4 assists! Josh Johnson (45) scored 11 points got 7 rebounds and 2 assists and three of the shots scored were from the three point line. Jay Bowie (20) got a score of 24 points 5 assists and three rebounds all defensive. Kyle Armour (10) really helped out his team with 8 assists 4 rebounds and 10 points.

 

Willetton Tigers next game will be away against Mandurah Magic Sat 16th, good luck to them!  Next home game Anzac day (Monday), tip-off at 1pm. Proceeds to our local RSL.
