GOTAFE GVFL club delegates ticked off a couple of significant strategic action items at their pre-season meeting held last Wednesday 16 March.
The 2016 Board wasted no time in getting down to action and a two day strategic planning retreat held in January has driven some key outcomes which were ratified at Wednesday night’s meeting.
GOTAFE GVFL Chairman David Roff praised the work of the Board and the crucial input of clubs.
"The strategic planning workshop in January was a great way for the new Board to gel together and for us to set some direction for the League" he said.
"This was evidenced at the delegates meeting with a three year strategic plan presented to clubs and a document outlining the overarching structure of the League and the responsibilities of board members, staff and clubs was also presented and endorsed."
"Furthermore, the League’s By-Laws have been revised and tidied up and were presented and passed at the meeting – amongst those was that consideration of night games is to occur in conjunction with next year’s draw with support for the League Board to have the final say "
"The future and role of our Dunkirk Avenue office was also discussed and it was the unanimous view of the clubs that the office should be sold so the Board will now develop an action plan to sell the property. "
"Any funds from the sale have not been allocated for any purpose but will form part of a three year financial plan to be developed in coming months and this will be approved by Clubs."
"A significant amount of work has gone into recording and making plans to preserve the League’s memorabilia."
"The live streaming of games was also discussed with clubs supportive of a trial to live stream one or two games this season to test the market and determine its viability as a communication tool for the League."
"There was a round table discussion on the Under 18 competition and player numbers for this season and whilst there are a couple of clubs struggling for numbers the importance of this age group to the viability of all clubs was reinforced."
"Finally, delegates also noted that work had been commissioned to revamp the League’s website and it is hoped that this will be ready for the start of the season or shortly thereafter."
"All clubs are now ready and are eagerly anticipating the start of the season on 2 April."
