NEWS: Two Geelong teams take out first place at Boys FC tournament in Bendigo
CONGRATULATIONS to the players and coaches of the Elcho Park Cardinals Under 11s and the Geelong Rangers Under 12s who took out first place in their respective age categories at the FFV Boys FC tournament held in Bendigo over the weekend.
The Cardinals, coached by ex-Croatian international and current Melbourne City A-League squad goalkeeper coach Joey Didulica, took out their Under 10A Grade group in convincing fashion, going through the whole tournament undefeated. On top of that, the Cardinals didn’t concede a goal in six matches!
The Rangers boys who were coached by Liam McCloskey, meanwhile, took out the U12B Grade Championship in equally convincing fashion.
Another Geelong team, Barwon Heads FC, competed admirably in the Boys U12B Division, while a Rangers team also took part in the Boys' U15 competition.
North Geelong SAP instructor, Josip Zilic, whose son Benjamin was a member of the triumphant Cardinals’ team, was impressed by the standard of the Geelong players on show in Bendigo
“I was delighted to see their determination to play football and their execution of the four core skills throughout the tournament. I am looking forward to seeing these and the region's best lads at the North Geelong Warriors SAP trials on Monday (today), commencing at 5pm at Elcho Park,” he said.
