NOTICE: GRFC 2016 Draft Leagues' Fixtures released by FFV
ALL GRFC clubs are hereby informed that all draft fixtures for all 2016 FFV Geelong competitions (excluding Hubs - currently TBC) are now online! All fixtures are available online in the FORMS AND LINKS section of this website…
Further changes are expected:
Club Officials are urged to inform all coaches, players and their families that all fixtures are subject to change between now and the final fixture release on 30 March. Please keep this in mind when reviewing the draft fixture.
There are a few clash resolution issues and venues awaiting lighting approval which remain, including home fixtures for the following clubs on a number of weekends:
- Elcho Park Cardinals FC, North Geelong Warriors SC, Corio SC and Deakin University SC may have a number of home fixtures revert to Friday nights pending lighting approval or confirmation.
- Elcho Park Cardinals FC have a number of fixture clashes not able to be resolved by reversing fixtures which are listed in the fixture as "TBC" – this will be confirmed by the final fixture release.
Fixture Change Requests (Prior to Final Fixture Release):
Clubs now have the opportunity to review FFV Geelong fixtures and make any changes based on internal preferences, pitch allocation, hub requirements, maximising referee appointments or otherwise by writing to competitions@ffv.org.au no later than 9:00am Tuesday 29 March.
Any request received after this deadline will not be considered and must be made in accordance with the Rules of Competition.

Boys' Under 17 Competition:
Due to the withdrawal of a team from Boys' Under 17B, the two divisions in the Under 17 age group have been amalgamated into a single league. Changes for this competition are outlined in the updated structures.
Senior Men's Divisions:
As per yesterday's memo, FFV has received and collated a variety of feedback from clubs across the region regarding the options provided for senior men's competition in 2016.
We thank all clubs that responded for doing so in a timely manner as we appreciate the quick turnaround involved in FFV then confirming the fixtures for today's release. In the past 24 hours, further league movement has resulted in Corio Bay SC withdrawing its Men's Division 2 team, leaving the top divisions with a total of 14 teams.
Based on the feedback provided, FFV has decided that Option 2 is the best course of action for the 2016 season which is to amalgamate Men's Divisions 1 and 2. As there has been no indication of any potential teams looking to take up the sixth position in Men's Division 1, a 14-team league is a far more viable option.
Men's Division 3 will now be known as Men's Division 2 in 2016 but otherwise remains unchanged. Today's fixture release reflects these changes.
As part of this amalgamation, FFV Competitions proposes to put forward a modified finals format to take place after Round 13 of the regular season (the point at which all 14 teams will have played each other once).
At this stage, the intention is to potentially have the league split into a number of groups based on ladder position, with all 14 teams to participate by playing added games against clubs closer to their standing.
The details of this proposal will be made available to clubs over the coming weeks with a view to making a decision on or around the beginning of the season, as well as further consultation to be had regarding the implementation of a long-term policy around these league structures for 2017 onwards.
Regards,
FFV Competitions Dept
