Moreton Bay United midfielder Alex Janovsky believes his side’s title credentials will be put to the test over the next three weeks.
Jets are currently second in the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues standings after winning their two first fixtures of the campaign, and sit behind FNQ Heat on goal difference.
They travel to third-placed Redlands United on Friday night before two further testing match-ups against top four hopefuls Brisbane Strikers and Gold Coast City.
Janovsky, whose impressive start to the campaign has seen him chosen in the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues team of the week twice already in 2016, said despite the promising start the task only gets harder in coming weeks.
“We’ve started (the season) well. We put the hard work in during the pre-season and it is coming to fruition now,” Janovsky explained.
“Two wins on the trot is good, but we have three hard games coming up. It will be a good test of out title credentials.”
“If you’re looking for yardstick, Redlands beat Strikers, one of the teams you’d expect to be up the top at the end of the season. Brisbane Roar drew with Strikers and we beat Roar - we’ve got to turn up on Friday and do our job.”
Janovsky, who joined Jets from third-tier Lions FC in the summer, is Jets’ leading scorer with a goal in each of Jets two wins - his second, against Brisbane Roar Youth, from a stunning 30-yard free-kick.
“Top corner, I couldn’t hit it any sweeter,” he said, “it was one of those where you know it’s going in as soon as you hit it.
“I’ve done it a couple of times in the past and it was good to get another goal this week.”
He added that he hopes to keep contributing in front of goal as the season progresses.
“I said at the start of the season I wanted to get ten (goals), so I’m on track for that,” he concluded.
