Statement On Competition Withdrawals
Football Queensland (FQ) has confirmed the withdrawal of Moreton Bay United FC from the PlayStation® 4 National Premier Leagues Women’s Queensland 2016 season.
Having earlier in pre-season been in a position to meet expectations, the club has advised FQ that subsequent player departures have irrevocably undermined the squad and its ability to uphold the competition’s competitiveness.
The Women’s division will proceed in 2016 with 11 participating teams, kicking off this Saturday, 27 February as scheduled.
One team per round will be allocated a bye in keeping with last season’s 22-round format.
FQ also confirmed the withdrawal of Redlands United FC from the Under 13 Girls division following an assessment of the available player pool.
The remainder of Redlands United’s PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues licence, which includes a commitment to fielding Under 15 Girls and Women’s teams, remains unchanged.
While FQ is committed to ensuring both competitions commence as scheduled this weekend, it will continue discussions with Moreton Bay United and Redlands United regarding sanctions under Competition Regulations.
FQ has additionally been advised of and welcomed arrangements for alternative playing opportunities provided to the registered players affected by the withdrawals.
