Three former VFL players selected in the 2015 AFL and Rookie Drafts made debuts for their new clubs in the weekend’s NAB Challenge matches, with one in particular playing a starring role.
That man was Adam Marcon (pick no.47, Rookie Draft - pictured), who was prominent in Richmond’s under-strength midfield during the Tigers’ 60-point loss to Fremantle in Mandurah on Friday night. Playing alongside long-time friend Kane Lambert, the former Williamstown premiership player and 2015 Fothergill-Round Medallist had 13 disposals at 77 per cent efficiency, three clearances, three inside-50s, five tackles and one goal in 77 per cent game time.
Sam Collins (pick no.55, AFL Draft) made a brief appearance for Fremantle in the same game. The ex-Box Hill Hawks key defender had two handballs in 23 per cent game time.
Andrew Gallucci (pick no.19, Rookie Draft), a 2015 Williamstown premiership player, was another to see limited game time on the weekend. The dynamic small forward recorded three handballs in Carlton’s 21-point loss to Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium on Thursday night.
