FNQ Extend Pre-Season Momentum
CAIRNS | Jamie Carroll struck a goal in each half as FNQ Heat rounded out an undefeated pre-season with a 3-0 win over local Cairns outfit Stratford FC on Friday night.
Carroll opened accounts early in the first half by heading home at the back post before Stratford regrouped to ensure a relatively even contest.
However, Heat broke through again just prior to the break when Keiran Sanders was felled in the penalty box enabling Jamie Gosling to convert from the penalty spot.
Carroll then rounded out the performance as Heat’s conditioning came to the fore in the second stanza – converting a solid strike from outside the penalty area after being teed up by Sanders.
Heat commence the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues season next Sunday in the final match of the opening round in Brisbane against perreniel competition powerhouse Olympic FC.
